HOWEVER, despite the beautiful surroundings the open ocean does pose some danger, so it is VERY worth your while to pay attention to beach conditions. Be very careful not only when you are in the water but also as you approach the shore. Also be mindful of sudden drop offs in the reef once you are in the water, as well as strong currents and the changing weather conditions. The best attitude to take while visiting a Kaua'i beach is to use common sense. Don't go in the water if you are at all unsure of the conditions or your own water adaptability.
